Astor Place is constantly in motion, the nexus point of an exciting, young, vibrant and artistic community where East and West Villages meet. Historically a transient space with little reason to dwell, the newly reconstructed Astor Place is the result of a $16 million City capital improvement maintained by the Village Aliance, a community-based non-profit organization. Astor Place now features year-round public open space and cultural activities that establish it as the heart and anchor of the neighborhood.
The Astor Place plazas are available to activate for many event types, ranging from film and television shoots to brand activations. If you are interested in holding an event, film or photo shoot on either of the Astor Place public plazas, you must apply to both the Village Alliance and the City's Street Activity Permit Office (SAPO) for permission. Click here for our plaza event use guidelines. The guidleines outline the permit process, associated fees and contain the application form.
