The Village has long been associated with a free and open bohemian lifestyle, but during the radical counterculture movement of the 1960s the area was flooded by activists and political reformers. Music rang high with rock & roll and folk music becoming the anthem for a generation. Waves were made across the country and the Village was no exception. In just one decade the neighborhood helped launch the careers of Bob Dylan and Barbra Streisand.
