On Sunday, May 20, 6:30 - 9 pm, happy party-goers will toast the 60th anniversary summer season of the Washington Square Music Festival during a festive cocktail party at the historic Greenwich House Music School, 46 Barrow Street. The evening will feature elegant hors d’oeuvres, champagne cocktails, wine and entertainment.
Proceeds support the Washington Square Music Festival’s June series.
Flowers will be blooming in the lush garden, festooned with tiny lights, as the guests enjoy the sunset. Festival artists, including harpist Mélanie Genin, cellist Lutz Rath and trombonist Kuumba Frank Lacy will preview their June appearances in the Square.
The time of day and the inviting garden location suggest a sparkling evening of sophisticated conversation and music, with door prizes for lucky ticket holders, and some special treats from Li-Lac Chocolates and other Village establishments.
The Committee looks forward to greeting friends and fans at this celebratory evening. Baby Brasa, featuring Peruvian specialties; Cornelia Street Café, a culinary as well as a cultural landmark; and North Square, known for gourmet food & fine wines, are offering discounted dinners to guests who will enjoy a late supper at these premiere Village eateries.
Tickets are $500, $250, $150 and $75 with $60 being a special price for music-lovers under 40. Proceeds support the 60th season of free orchestral and jazz concerts on Tuesdays at 8 pm June 5, 12, 19, and 26th in Washington Square Park. The Festival reaches large, diverse audiences and is critically acclaimed for expert music making in an informal outdoor setting.
